- SkyPipes' technology is being developed by SkyPipes Wireless, Inc. to provide performance that will significantly exceed that of emerging WiMax or 3G cellular networks. It will reliably use unlicensed FREE spectrum while eliminating the major capital expenditures necessary to make use of private spectrum. SkyPipes' architecture, with broad U.S. and global patent coverage will allow independent service providers to directly compete with the "triple-play" services (Internet, phone, on-demand TV) of incumbent cable operators at much lower cost and equivalent levels of reliability.
- The reliable use of very low cost and widely available WiFi (802.11n) radio technology, becomes practical because of Sky Pipes’ unique network system architecture, based on grids of managed, dynamic point-to-point radio links. It will provide a 20 to 40 times the coverage efficiency over current WiFi based metropolitan solutions and 15 to 20 times the bandwidth capacity at 1/4th to 1/10th the cost of competing technologies.
- SkyPipes will provide the ability to economically serve both low density, small user communities and high density large suburban communities, using a consistant system architecture and the same low cost components.
- SkyPipes will disrupt the residential bandwidth services market. The capital cost per subscriber will typically be 1/10th of fiber & cable and 1/4th that of WiMax.
